Some of the best things in life are free , and that includes utilities , here i list some of my favourites , and welcome any suggestions . Beware though , we don't recommend downloading anything and everything that is free , as some bundles may contain viruses and malware etc . so only download if you are sure you can trust the site and application available . Also make sure you read the download licencing info to ensure you are using it legally.

1. A Great Microsoft Office Alternative !

OpenOffice is a powerful suite of applications , and being open source is always being improved on . It is multi platform compatable and can import from all (we think!) office formats including the latest rev for 2007. So you get a program that can do everything (almost) Excel Word Access and Powerpoint functionality . If money is a problem then this could be your salvation . Roll on the days of GPL domination !

NB :For clients using our web design service , and needing to supply product updates in spreadheet format the calc application of Open Office can be used to export to excel format .

2. A BRILLIANT DESKTOP PUBLISHING APPLICATION !

Serif PagePlus , is in my view fantastic , you need to register with Serif , but the good news this software is free for personal use .

You can with ease create pretty good flyers brochures and letterheads with this freebie .

Serif even include a good range of templates to get you started .

3. EXCELLENT FOR SCREEN CAPTURES!

This small but powerful windows utility is free for private and commercial use , and is ideal for making and exact mirror image copy of what you see on your PC screen. Say you want to email your friend a picture of a webpage on your site then this utility will create a graphics file (in most standard formats) very easily.
